There are different channels for displaying product photos. For online store product listing, a crispy photo allows viewers to check out the product details. (The more angles the better). My customers prefer the product to have a white or transparent background, and high resolution. I will output the photos in JPEG and PNG. I can also give out the Photoshop file.
In the photo editing process, I first analyse the brightness and saturation of the photos. Sometimes, the photos are taken in an environment with low brightness. I will adjust the brightness of the photo so that it looks more natural. It also brings out the edge of the object and allows me to remove the background more easily. Depending on your preference, I can increase the colour of the product so that it looks even more attractive.
Nowadays, a range of photo retouching applications use AI to remove product background in a few clicks. While it is convenient, it may not live up to your expectations. Common problems include blurred product edge, missing details, white areas on the product packaging becomes transparent because the application analyses wrongly, etc. Watch out for the details if you opt to use AI to do product photo background removal.
